Man shoots at Raleigh, N.C. police 9 times in downtown

A man from North Carolina is in custody after Raleigh Police reported that he shot at two of their officers in downtown on Thursday night.

Officers were sitting in their marked patrol car at the intersection of Haywood Street and Martin Street around 10:49 p.m.when the driver of a white vehicle approached and fired at the officers nine times from the driver’s side window, according to WRAL.

One of the officers fired back at 30-year-old Dontezs Sharirh Whitley-Taylor.

Officials said no one was hurt in the shooting.

Taylor has been charged with the following offenses:

assault with a firearm on a law enforcement officer,

conspiracy to commit a felony,

going armed to the terror of the people, and

discharge firearm in city limits.
