Authorities in Wilmington, North Carolina have identified two men who were gunned down in the parking lot outside MainStay Suites hotel Thursday night.

The Wilmington Police Department reported that on Thursday, December 7, shortly after 10 p.m., officers responded to an incident at the Mainstay Suites hotel on Market Street. Upon arrival, officers found two men in the parking lot, dead.
The victims have been identified as 21-year-old Taemon Kirby and 22-year-old Niyja Saquan Spain.
According to a press release from the Wilmington Police Department, before the shooting, two individuals were meeting with two men for a transaction that was taking place inside a car.
After a brief conversation, the police reported that a gun was fired from the backseat and hit a passenger in the front seat.
Two men then exited the vehicle, and one of them fired his weapon in the direction of the initial gunshots, according to a press release. A passenger in the back seat of the car was struck multiple times.

Police said the man who shot is in custody, but his name and mugshot have not yet been released.
