Late Thursday night, CBS News reported that the Israeli military had informed the United Nations that the entire population in northern Gaza should evacuate to the south immediately.
A U.N. spokesperson, Stephane Dujarric, told reporters that just before midnight on Thursday, the Israeli military informed the United Nations that the entire population of north Gaza should be “relocated to southern Gaza within the next 24 hours.” According to the United Nations, approximately 1.1 million people live in northern Gaza.

The U.N. “considers it impossible for such a movement to take place without devastating humanitarian consequences,” Dujarric said. He also “strongly appeals for any such order, if confirmed, to be rescinded, in order to avoid transformingwhat is already a tragedy into a calamitous situation.”
Israeli officials said Thursday that at least 1,300 people have been killed in the Hamas incursion, and at least 2,800 more have been wounded.
