Miami-based lifestyle influencer Ashlee Jenae — born Ashly Robinson — is dead at just 31 years old after being found unresponsive inside a luxury villa in Zanzibar, Tanzania.
Her family, friends, and thousands online are side-eyeing the official story and demanding answers.
A DREAM TRIP TURNS INTO A NIGHTMARE
Just days before her death, Ashlee Jenae was living the life she built her brand on — tropical views, luxury vibes, and love.
She had just celebrated her 31st birthday… and got engaged.
Her fiancé, Joe McCann, was right there with her in Tanzania — the same man who would later tell authorities she died by suicide.
According to early reports, McCann claimed Jenae took her own life by hanging inside their villa.

The internet lit up after one of Jenae’s close friends, Savannah Britt, went viral calling the situation into question.
“We need justice for my friend Ashlee Jenae… Anyone who knows Ash knows she would NEVER commit suicide.”
People who knew Jenae say her social media posts from the trip painted a completely different picture. She was happy, glowing, newly engaged, and excited about life.
And they say there were no signs of distress.
Her family confirmed she was found unconscious and rushed to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead — but they have more questions than answers.
WHAT REALLY HAPPENED IN THAT VILLA?
Local reports out of Zanzibar claim the couple may have had an argument before her death. As the internet continues to question what really happened to Ashlee Jenae, her own father spoke out.
In a Facebook post, Harry Robinson wrote:
“We just want justice for my Ash.”
Alongside that message, the family released an official statement dated April 12, 2026. According to the statement, Ashlee had just celebrated her birthday on April 5 and gotten engaged during what was supposed to be a dream safari trip in Zanzibar.
The family confirmed she was found unconscious inside her villa at the Zuri Zanzibar resort and rushed to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
And while authorities have floated a suicide narrative, the family is not co-signing that version of events.
Instead, they made it clear:
There is an “active investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ashly’s suspicious passing.”
The statement goes on to describe the emotional toll this has taken, calling the loss “overwhelming” and emphasizing how sudden and unexplained her death feels. They also issued a warning to the public that any information not directly from the family should be considered unverified.
