Police looking for suspect who killed 19-year-old at a St. Patrick’s Day party with over 100 people in attendance

A 19-year-old is dead, and police are searching for the suspect(s) responsible for shooting and killing Ashanti Monk at a St. Patrick’s Day party in Harnett County on Sunday night.

According to investigators, two others were also injured in the shooting. On March 17, around 1:45 a.m., 911 received several calls about a shooting on Sundowner Lane in Angier. Upon arrival, the police learned that there was a party with over 100 people in attendance, as reported by investigators, and found Monk lying on the ground with a gunshot wound.

Zaylen Dowd, 21, and Chassidy McDougald, 19, were also shot but were treated at the hospital and released on Tuesday.

The sheriff’s office stated that there are no known suspects at this time.
