Fantasia BLASTS a Mooresville North Carolina Airbnb for racially profiling her family

‘The Color Purple’ star and former winner of “American Idol”, and a native of North Carolina, Fantasia Barrino, said she was racially profiled on December 16 by an Airbnb owner in Mooresville, North Carolina

The beloved R&B singer expressed sadness in a social media video, detailing her experience of feeling discriminated against as a Black person. She and her family were forced to leave the property they had rented for her son’s 12th birthday party.

In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Fantasia mentioned feeling queasy as she and her family headed home in the cold and rain.

“I don’t say much when people do me wrong, but I can’t stay quiet on how my family and I were just treated from a host with @Airbnb @airbnbhelp trying to kick my kids and I out at 12:00 midnight, Fantasia said in her X post.

Mooresville, North Carolina Airbnb host claims Fantasia Barrino and her family was having a party with loud noises outside and told them to get out

The host of the property claimed that Fantasia and her family were having a party outside with loud noise, according to the Golden Globe nominee. Although Fantasia said it was a party for her son’s 12th birthday, all outdoor activities took place that day, including a game truck for the kids. Fantasia also mentioned in her video that the property was reserved to accommodate the number of guests who were staying overnight at the party.

Airbnb property owner contacted Fantasia around 11:30 p.m. Saturday night about noise complaints

Around 11:30 p.m., Fantasia said the property owner called her to complain about noise, hours after the kids had been put to bed, and asked them to leave the residence.

“It’s evident to me this was racial profiling and the treatment we received was due to the color of our skin,” Barrino’s post says. “I wanted my son to enjoy his friends (10-12) and make him feel special as I have been traveling for the last 35+ days promoting a movie I starred in. This time, I dare not stay quiet.”

In the Airbnb, Fantasia mentioned that the home had a game room and other amenities for guests who frequently hosted large gatherings. She stated the home had posted pictures encouraging guests to enjoy life and have fun. Something Fantasia said contradicted how they were treated.

Fantasia also posted a photo of the children who attended her son’s 12th birthday party.

However, the neighbors of the Airbnb property owner complained that the kids were being too loud.

“So, at 6a, in the freezing rain, with sleepy kids, we loaded up 4 vehicles, respectfully cleaned and organized everything back to its original place and we left,” an Instagram post reads. “Logistically, some of the children had to be immediately taken home, with one stating they didn’t want to go home. I didn’t deserve to look or feel like I let my son and the other kids down.”

Airbnb did reach responded to Fantasia post on X, claiming the company does not condone discrimination “in any way.”
