Wilmington NC stabbings broke out  minutes apart on Front Street early Sunday morning as a viral video captures the aftermath and a bystander helping an injured victim.

Update (April 8, 2026): One of the victims from the early Sunday morning stabbings on North Front Street in downtown Wilmington has died.

Wilmington Police Department (WPD) has identified him as 21-year-old Daniel Montano, a Marine with the 2nd Marine Division based at Camp Lejeune.

Montano succumbed to his stab wounds after being transported to the hospital.

WPD is now actively seeking a person of interest in connection with the deadly stabbing and is asking for the public’s help with tips or information.

He is described as an adult Black male with a medium build. Photos show him wearing a light-colored, fleece-lined denim jacket, light-colored denim pants, a pink shirt, and white sneakers with blue and red accents.

He was also wearing what police said appeared to be a dark blue head covering, with long hair extending from underneath.

The second stabbing, which occurred just two minutes later and steps away, involved a 22-year-old woman who suffered life-threatening injuries. In that separate incident, 20-year-old Jazya Muldrow-Green has been arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

The two stabbings are still believed to be unrelated.

WILMINGTON, N.C. — A shocking video out of downtown Wilmington went viral showing a man bleeding from a stab wound near his neck as a quick-thinking bystander removed his own shirt and pressed it against the victim’s wound in an attempt to stop the bleeding. Wilmington Police Department officers can be seen on  the chaotic scene.

The incidents happened early Sunday morning, April 5, 2026, with two separate stabbings reported just minutes apart on North Front Street.
