A week ago today, after inciting an insurrection on the U.S. Capitol, leaving five people dead, President Donald J. Trump has been impeached.
This is the second time Trump has been impeached, and even though a trial to remove him from office could begin after his term ends, a conviction could mean he will be barred from holding public office again.
Trump is the only President in America’s history to be impeached twice.
He was charged in this impeachment proceedings with inciting insurrection by encouraging his supporters to storm the Capitol.
On Wednesday, ten Republicans joined Democrats to impeach him.
Since the insurrection, Trump has taken no responsibility for the violence on the Capitol. The riot happened after Trump told his supporters at a rally in Washington, DC to “fight like hell” against the results of November’s election.
Trump has been crying aloud for months about the November election being fraudulent, and he only believes it because he cheated in 2016 when he won the Presidency against Hillary Clinton.
While the House was debating early Wednesday afternoon, Trump urged his supporters to remain calm.
I urge that there must be NO violence, NO lawbreaking, and NO vandalism of any kind, he said in a statement released by the White House. That is not what I stand for, and it is not what America stands for. I call on ALL Americans to help ease tensions and calm tempers. Thank You.
BULLSHIT! You started this shit, TRUNKKKKKKKKK!
