Homosexual husband and wife upset after husband tries to sleep with his former pastor who rejected his advances

0

Word On The Curb… a couple from Atlanta, Georgia, is fuming after their failed attempt to seduce and expose their former pastor. The husband was turned down and offered deliverance, but instead of moving on, the couple launched a social media smear campaign against the pastor.

Jaleceya Tate, a wanna-be reformed lesbian, and her downlow husband Jimmy-Sharod Tate are known for stirring up trouble. They may seem devoted in church, but their actions speak otherwise.

Bishop Calvin McCoy Jr., the pastor of Hope For Tomorrow Deliverance Center, had enough of their lies and sent them a cease and desist letter.

The Tates had accused Bishop Calvin of embezzlement without any evidence, and their hate campaign on social media was filled with false allegations.

It seems this couple’s attempt to tarnish the pastor’s reputation has backfired, and their credibility is now in question.

Bishop Calvin told The North Carolina Beat that the Tates have not been members of his church for seven years. He said he considered Jimmy as his son, and they would always go fishing.

According to Bishop Calvin, last year was the last time he had spoken to Jimmy, in an attempt to connect with whom he considered a ‘son.’ But then the couple came back expressing their desire to re-join the ministry.

In a leaked audio recording by the Tate’s, Bishop Calvin said things about members of his ministry but he expressed his regret and took ownership of his words, offering apologies to the individuals he mentioned. However, he vehemently objected to the false accusations made by the Tate’s, alleging that he had misappropriated funds from his church.

“We were picking up where we left off, but I take full responsibility for what I said about certain members,” Bishop McCoy said.

“But to accuse me of embezzling money is a lie.”I am a giver, having donated $150,000 to my church last year, in addition to owning businesses. my business tithes to my church, so accusing me of embezzling money and stealing is a lie.”

Bishop Calvin shared that the couple had expressed their desire to return to the ministry and make a substantial donation to both Bishop Calvin and Apostle Travis Jennings of The Harvest Tabernacle, who were also present. However, unbeknownst to those in attendance, the Jimmy had secretly recorded the three-hour meeting.

In the discussion, Bishop Calvin mentioned that Jimmy was inquiring about the well-being of several individuals and seeking reassurance that his family would be safe if they decided to rejoin the church, given past events before their departure, among of other things.

“In my mind, this is a son coming home, so I was blind and I didn’t think he wanted to meet us to record us for whatever reason because he has never done this,” Bishop McCoy said. “He has never been who he is now.”

Bishop Calvin shared that when Jimmy reached out, he expressed a desire to support him and his leader, Apostle Travis Jennings. They were in the midst of fundraising, and Jimmy and his wife wanted to contribute to everyone associated with Bishop Calvin but the couple had different in mind.

“I called everyone they wanted to contribute to, and we had a meeting in the church, and they trusted me,” Bishop McCoy said, his voice trembling as if he was tearing. “They came because of me, and this happened to them. They do not deserve to have their photos posted with false information.”

Before the scheduled meeting on later Tuesday night, earlier Tuesday afternoon, Bishop Calvin said Jimmy had urgently called him while he was in his office, asking if he was alone. After confirming that he was indeed by himself, Jimmy insisted that the matter was serious.

“He said what he had to tell me was really something and I kept asking him, ‘Sharod, what is it?'” Bishop McCoy Jr. said.

According to Bishop Calvin, Jimmy disclosed that his wife, Jaleceya, was still involved in a lesbian relationship with her girlfriend. When Bishop asked Jimmy how he felt about this, Jimmy nonchalantly replied that he was getting used to it.

“He told me that Jaleceya had told him the other day that he could go get him somebody and I told him to not do that,” Bishop McCoy Jr. said. “I reminded him what it costed him before when he did this.”

Despite Bishop’s advice against infidelity, Jimmy expressed a desire to “do something different,” prompting Bishop to inquire further.

“I asked him, ‘Sharod, same-sex different’? and he was like ‘yeah’,” Bishop McCoy said. “I said, ‘Sharod, don’t do that’. “Please don’t open that door.'”

Jimmy reiterated his desire for something different, leading Bishop to caution him about the potential dangers of straying from his marriage due to loneliness.

“As long as I have known Sharod, I have never known him to participate in any kind of gay activity,” Bishop McCoy Jr. said. “My guard is up now. My struggle was with homosexuality, and everybody knows about that struggle and how God delivered me. But I told him not to open that door because I’ve been there and it’s not good.”

Bishop Calvin shared his own experiences to dissuade Jimmy from pursuing a different path, emphasizing the potential consequences.

“He kept saying ‘I trust you,’ and at first I didn’t understand, but when he first said it, I told him that I was glad he came to me because someone else might have had the wrong intentions and motives,” said Bishop McCoy Jr.

After assuring Jimmy of his trust for the third time, Bishop Calvin was taken aback when Jimmy expressed an interest in exploring a different kind of relationship with him.

“I said, ‘Sharod, that will never, ever happen between us,'” Bishop McCoy Jr. said. “I told him that we could be anything except for having a sexual relationship. “It could never happen because I see him as a son.”

In response, Bishop Calvin made it clear to Jimmy that while he was willing to be a supportive friend, he would not engage in any inappropriate behavior.

“I told him to not open that door and then he changed the subject and asked if everyone was going to be at the meeting later that night and I told him ‘yes’,” Bishop McCoy said.

Following the scheduled Tuesday evening gathering, the Tates unleashed a barrage of malicious and false accusations mentioned above against Bishop Calvin, which they have since removed from their posts.

The North Carolina Beat attempted to contact the disgruntled couple for their side of the story, but they did not respond to our inquiries before this article was published.

Dorian Thomas Found NOT GUILTY in Shooting Death of Emily James in Johnston County

0

50-year-old Dorian Thomas was found not guilty of murder in the shooting death of Emily Steinhoff James. The verdict was delivered Friday afternoon after less than an hour of jury deliberation.

After a year-long legal battle, Dorian Thomas was found not guilty in the shooting death of Emily Steinhoff James.

Thomas faced charges stemming from a March 17, 2024, incident during a custody exchange involving his 14-month-old child and former fiancée, Hillary Lombardi. Steinhoff James, 44, who was Lombardi’s sister, accompanied her to Thomas’s Smithfield residence when the fatal shooting occurred.

During the trial, Thomas maintained that the shooting was accidental. He testified that he brought a firearm to the door because of prior threats and uncertainty about who was outside. According to Thomas, Lombardi had previously threatened him, mentioning alleged associations with the Hells Angels motorcycle group.

Emily Steinhoff James, a 44-year-old woman from Johnston County, tragically lost her life during a 2024 custody exchange in Smithfield.

However, prosecutors challenged Thomas’s claims of fear. Assistant District Attorney Hannah Grace Manning pointed to Thomas’s continued close interactions with Lombardi even after the alleged threats, including staying at her apartment and sending her Valentine’s Day flowers. Manning argued that these actions undermined his defense.

Defense attorney Joe Zeszotarski focused on raising reasonable doubt, emphasizing that the shooting could have been a tragic accident. The jury was instructed to consider five potential verdicts: first-degree murder, second-degree murder, voluntary manslaughter, involuntary manslaughter, or not guilty. In the end, jurors returned a not guilty verdict on all counts.

Speaking outside the courthouse following the verdict, Thomas expressed deep remorse:

“This was a horrible accident, and from the bottom of my heart, I never meant for it to happen,” he said. “There’s just nothing else to say other than I’m sorry that it happened, and it wasn’t ever meant to be like that.”

Pastor Jamal Bryant Calls For Nationwide Boycott of Target Over DEI Rollback

0

Pastor Jamal Bryant of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church has launched a nationwide boycott against retail giant Target, following the company’s recent decision to scale back its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives. The protest, branded as the “Target Fast,” officially launched on March 5, 2025, aligning with the Christian observance of Lent.

Over 50,000 Supporters Join “Target Fast” Boycott in First Week

Within the first week of the campaign, more than 50,000 participants pledged their support through targetfast.org, demonstrating the economic influence of Black consumers, who collectively spend over $12 million daily at Target. The 40-day economic protest was aimed  to mobilize 100,000 conscientious consumers to withhold spending at the retail chain.

This is about holding corporations accountable to the promises they’ve made to our communities,” said Pastor Bryant during a press conference covered by FOX 5 Atlanta.

Target Faces Criticism for Scaling Back DEI Commitments

The controversy surfaced after reports revealed that Target had begun reducing programs designed to support Black employees and promote Black-owned businesses. The decision comes amid growing political pressure from the Trump Administration on corporate DEI policies.

In 2021, Target publicly committed to invest $2 billion in Black-owned businesses by 2025, a promise that now faces scrutiny. According to Bryant, recent conversations with company leadership resulted in a recommitment to this pledge, with a July 31, 2025 deadline for fulfillment.

Bryant’s Demands: $250 Million Investment and HBCU Partnerships

Pastor Bryant and the “Target Fast” movement are calling for broader corporate accountability measures, including:

  • A $250 million deposit into Black-owned banks to support business growth and economic development.

  • New partnerships with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), especially those near Target distribution centers, aimed at creating retail business education programs and career pipelines.

  • Restoration of Target’s DEI programs focused on advancing Black employees and investing in Black-owned businesses.

  • Fulfillment of the $2 billion pledge to Black-owned businesses by July 2025.

During a Resurrection Sunday service, Pastor Bryant reiterated these four key demands to his congregation and supporters nationwide and said they only walked out with 1 of the four “asks”.

“If all of these years we have been loyal customers and clients, and in the moment of dis-ease you turn your back,” Pastor Bryant told his packed congregation. “So, I had to share with Target that we gave you 40 days to answer four — not one — and they only came back with one, so I told them what I’m getting ready to tell you: we ain’t going back in there.”

National Leaders Join the Movement

The boycott has attracted national attention, with prominent civil rights leader Rev. Al Sharpton meeting with Target’s CEO to address concerns over the company’s DEI strategy rollback. More leaders and organizations are expected to voice their positions as the movement continues to grow.

The young man was discovered lifeless in a bedroom of his mother’s home after being beaten, with family members believing he was the victim of a hate crime because of his sexuality.

The family alleges that Tee’Andrick Lawson was killed by intruders while staying at Tasha’s residence. Though official reports list Tasha Lawson’s cause of death as “aortic dissection rupture, hypertensive, and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease,” relatives maintain that the grief of losing her only son played a significant role in her passing.

“The pain of losing her son was too much for her heart to bear,” reads a statement on the family’s GoFundMe page, which was launched to help cover funeral expenses and support Tasha’s surviving children. The page describes the bond between mother and son as inseparable, noting that they were “best friends who did everything together.

Court documents listed “the investigation to date by law enforcement has demonstrated that the defendant was acting in self-defense when the shooting occurred.”

Victim’s Mother Post Victim Impact Statement on Facebook

During court proceedings, Shonda Moncrease, the mother of Tyrese Wicker, was not given the opportunity to read her victim impact statement in court. Instead, she shared it on Facebook.

“I stand before you today as a mother forever changed,” Moncrease said. “A mother whose world was shattered by the loss of her son—a young man whose life was stolen in an act of violence that should never have happened.”

In her statement, she expressed frustration with the justice system, particularly the lack of transparency and delays in receiving crucial information like the autopsy report.

“How can I begin to heal when the truth remains hidden?” she asked. “There are witnesses. There are voices who saw and heard what happened. And yet, I fear those voices are being ignored or silenced—not just by the defendant, but by a system that continues to minimize the weight of Black life and Black loss.”

Moncrease also voiced concern about the broader implications for the Sanford community and how dismissals like this may signal to others that violence can go unpunished.

“When you free those who kill without consequence, you don’t just fail us—you endanger us all,” she stated.

Shonda Moncrease, the mother of Tyrese Wicker, shared a moving victim impact statement online after not being able to read it in court.

NC Health Officials on High Alert After Mpox Virus Discovered in Greenville Wastewater

Clade I mpox detected in North Carolina

North Carolina health officials have sounded the alarm after Clade I mpox detected in North Carolina virus particles were detected in wastewater samples collected in Greenville. This is the first time the rare Clade I strain has been identified in the state, sparking concerns over potential undetected or unreported infections in the region.

Virus Detected in Routine Wastewater Testing

According to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS), the virus was found during routine surveillance by the North Carolina Wastewater Monitoring Network. Samples collected on March 25, March 28, and April 8 from a wastewater treatment plant in Greenville tested positive for Clade I mpox.

No confirmed human cases of Clade I mpox have been reported in North Carolina to date. However, the presence of viral particles suggests someone infected with the strain may have been in the area.

“The detection of Clade I mpox virus in wastewater surveillance tells us the virus is potentially here in our state, even though no cases have been reported and confirmed,” said Dr. Dev Sangvai, Secretary of NCDHHS. “We encourage healthcare providers to be on the lookout for mpox cases and people who are at higher risk to protect themselves by getting vaccinated.”

What is Clade I Mpox?

Formerly known as monkeypox, mpox is a contagious viral illness characterized by a painful or itchy rash that may appear on the face, genitals, hands, or feet. Some individuals also experience flu-like symptoms, including fever, chills, fatigue, and swollen lymph nodes.

Mpox has two genetic variants: Clade I and Clade II. While Clade II has been predominant in global outbreaks since 2022, Clade I is typically found in Central and Eastern Africa and spreads mainly through heterosexual contact. In the U.S., only four Clade I cases have been confirmed between November 2024 and February 2025.

How Wastewater Monitoring Works

The North Carolina Wastewater Monitoring Network, launched in 2021, helps detect emerging viral threats by analyzing samples from 35 wastewater treatment plants across the state. The system has proven effective in monitoring COVID-19, influenza, RSV, and now mpox — offering early warnings of potential public health crises.

Public Health Recommendations

Though the current risk to the general public is low, health officials urge residents to stay aware and take precautions:

  • Monitor Symptoms: Watch for rash or flu-like symptoms.

  • Seek Medical Help: If symptoms appear or exposure is suspected, contact a healthcare provider or local health department.

  • Vaccinate: Mpox vaccines are available and effective against both Clade I and II. Visit the NCDHHS mpox page for vaccination info.

Healthcare providers are also asked to consider mpox in symptomatic patients and to inquire about recent travel, particularly to areas with Clade I outbreaks. Suspected cases should be reported immediately by calling 919-733-3419, the NCDHHS Division of Public Health 24/7 epidemiologist line.
