Apostle Dessirrae Savage is going viral after publicly calling out a church member during a sermon at The City of Glory INC. over the way she was chewing gum.
A Chesapeake, Virginia pastor is going viral after a church moment left social media users tired of seeing pastors go viral every other week for cutting up in and out of the pulpit. This latest circus has the internet clutching their pearls after the pastor publicly called out a church member during service over the way she was chewing gum.
The City of Glory INC. pastor Apostle Dessirrae Savage is currently making rounds online after a clip surfaced showing her abruptly stopping mid-sermon to scold a woman named Brittany in front of the entire congregation.
According to the now-viral video, Savage — dressed in civic attire while preaching — suddenly interrupted herself and zeroed in on the church member over what appeared to be aggressive gum chewing.
“Stop chewing that gum like that, Brittany… you hungry?” the pastor asked before hitting her with a sarcastic “mhm.”
The interaction appeared to catch Brittany off guard and even got more awkward when Savage allegedly started fake coughing while pointing directly at Brittany and saying, “Yes, you.”
According to the exchange, Brittany responded by saying she was hungry.
But Savage made it crystal clear.
“Well, don’t chew the gum like that, you are in the sanctuary,” the pastor continued. “So… hmmm? You good? Yeah, but you talking back.”
Whew!

I’m a Pastor and I am disgusted and disappointed how she handled this. First of all, give me biblical explanation on why chewing gum is wrong in th sanctuary. Second of all, you stopped preaching the gospel (I assume that’s what you’re doing) to address someone chewing gum? There was no God in that.
She was openly chewing gum in the sanctuary, which is a no!! She therefore was openly rebuked! Lesson is there is a time and a place for everything and chewing gum in the sanctuary was not the proper time to be chewing gum!!
This is outrageous! She should’ve gave Brittany a few good meals, and done so very quietly!
These southern pastors as well as any other pastor that don’t know respect and dignity need to go back to theology school if they even attended. It’s a right and wrong way to do anything. She didn’t have to put that young lady on the spot like that.Im from Memphis Tennessee and it’s so sad how a lot of these pastors are these days.God please forgive them for they know not what they do!
