A South Carolina father and daughter have been found dead 100 yards outside of the truck they were in, according to WIS10.

Michelle Murph, 6, and her father, Jason Murph, 42, had not been seen since December 16. Jason’s wife received a phone call from him around 8 p.m., indicating to her that they may have been in an accident, according to officials.

Investigators in Richland County are releasing new details about the phone call Jason’s wife received from him around 8:00 p.m.

Jason Murph’s wife told investigators that they were estranged 

The wife stated that she and Jason were estranged and living separately, but Jason had been caring for their 6-year-old daughter the last two weeks, Michelle, according to an incident report.

She told investigators that she received a phone call from Jason around 8 p.m. on Saturday, saying that his Toyota Tundra truck had crashed in Calhoun County and he didn’t know where he was.

According to WLTX, the wife informed investigators that she could hear their daughter screaming in the background before Jason abruptly ended the call and refused to answer it.

She said the phone was dead, and she texted him to call 911, but she never heard from him again.

Police released a photo of Jason’s silver Toyota Tundra, which he was seen driving on Highway 301 near Calhoun County in South Carolina, southeast of Columbia, before he and daughter vanished.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search for the father and daughter. On Monday afternoon, authorities reported finding Jason’s truck abandoned in Calhoun County. Michelle and Jason was found an hour later on Lavender Lane near exit 136 off Interstate 26.

According to WIS10, the windows and rear taillights of the truck were shattered, and the license plate was missing. Police have not yet said whether the Murphys were in a car accident.

Police have not yet said how the father and daughter died or what may have happened.
