A football star, Brycen Mabe, a beloved 17-year-old football star at Pinecrest High School, tragically lost his life in a car accident and was kept on life support, leaving his family, friends, and school community in deep sorrow.

In a heart-wrenching incident on Thursday night, Brycen met his untimely demise in a collision at the intersection of Fairway Drive and Central Drive in Southern Pines around 10 p.m. Reports from the Southern Pines Police Department revealed that Brycen was a passenger in one of the vehicles involved.

As per authorities present at the location, a Volkswagen Jetta traveling along Fairway Drive disregarded a stop sign and entered the path of a Chevrolet Malibu heading towards the Moore County Airport on Central Drive.

The Jetta proceeded through the intersection and was struck on the driver’s side, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and collide with a cluster of trees.

Firefighters had to forcibly open both driver’s side doors to extract the occupants from the Jetta. Subsequently, all three individuals were transferred to Moore Regional Hospital since air transportation was not feasible due to adverse weather conditions.
