20-year-old Maleigha Allen was charged with first-degree murder in the premeditated stabbing death of her own father.
Lexington, NC — Maleigha Loale Allen, a 20-year-old from Davidson County, is no longer facing first-degree murder charges in the death of her father, Michael Steven Allen, 44.
A Davidson County grand jury returned a “no true bill,” finding no probable cause to indict her. Court records filed Monday confirm the murder charge — and any related misdemeanors — have been dismissed. Her attorney, Karen Gerber, stated that charges are no longer pending against Allen.
The case began on April 17, 2026, when deputies responded to reports of a stabbing on Whispering Oaks Drive around 7:20 a.m. They found Maleigha bleeding from multiple stab wounds, described as non-life-threatening.
She was rushed to the hospital.
While she received treatment, investigators performed a welfare check at the nearby Bryant Road home she shared with her father. There, they discovered Michael dead inside from multiple stab wounds.
Maleigha was arrested on April 21 after her release from the hospital and initially charged with first-degree murder.
She had been held without bond at the Davidson County Detention Center. Sheriff Richie Simmons had previously stated that she and her father were the only ones living at the residence and that evidence pointed to premeditation.
The Dark Past Everyone’s Talking About
Back in 2019, when Maleigha was just 13, her father Michael faced serious charges including incest, statutory rape of a child under 15, felony child sexual abuse, and more. Court records show those cases were later dismissed — cited as “insufficient evidence” with notes that “the child indicated she lied.”
Photos circulating from her social media show bruises and injuries. A reported message or drawing on her bedroom wall about silencing her father’s “voice” is being called proof of trauma, not premeditation.
Authorities have not commented publicly on the old allegations or any motive since the grand jury’s decision.
Allen’s attorney has requested privacy for Maleigha and her family as they move forward.
