Kamala Harris & Donald Trump FACE OFF in first presidential debate in the race for the White House

Share

Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris will meet in Philadelphia tonight for their first presidential debate in a closely contested race for the White House.

Here are the rules for the September 10, 2024 presidential debate

The debate rules for both candidates will be similar to those used in June between Trump and President Joe Biden, who had to withdraw from the race. The microphones will be muted unless one candidate is speaking. However, prior to finalizing the agreement, the Harris campaign sought to change the rules.

When and how to watch

The event is set to begin at 9 p.m. ET and will last for 90 minutes at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia. ABC News anchors David Muir and Linsey Davis will moderate the debate, which will be aired on the network and streamed on ABC News Live, Disney+, and Hulu.

Harris’ campaign expressed to ABC that the muted microphones would put her at a disadvantage by preventing direct exchanges with Trump, but they agreed to the terms to ensure Trump would not withdraw from the debate.

There will be no audience present, and candidates will not be allowed to directly question each other. Additionally, they cannot bring pre-written notes or props onto the debate stage.
