Sheriff Kimbrough Reacts to Jayden Livingston Shooting
In a strongly worded press release, Sheriff Kimbrough, Jr. expressed the department’s shock and determination:
“When a 16-year-old child and his pet can be gunned down in the quiet of the morning hours, it causes me to question our sense of morality and brings true anguish. Make no mistake about it, there is a monster among us, and the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office will use all available resources to ensure that justice is served.”
Livingston was a student at Stokes County High School. In a statement the Superintendent Dr. Brad Rice said:
“Stokes County Schools is sad to learn of the recent situation involving Jayden Livingston, who enrolled at West Stokes High School in February of this year. While the time of enrollment was brief, the impact on students and staff is being taken seriously, and the district is committed to providing appropriate support.
Due to the sensitive nature of the situation, a decision was made not to send a broad message to all families over the weekend until school administrators obtained permission from Jayden’s parents and had time to gather accurate information and ensure a thoughtful response. A message will be sent to families later today.
This morning, the school administration met with counselors and staff to coordinate efforts to support students. The district has also deployed additional counselors and social workers to West Stokes High School. These professionals are available to assist both students and staff as they process and respond to the situation.
Stokes County Schools remains focused on the well-being of its students and staff and will continue to provide resources and support as needed.”
Authorities have not released any suspect information, motive, or details about what may have led to the shooting. The case remains an open and active homicide investigation.
