Governor Roy Cooper closes N.C. Schools for remainder of year, TheNCBeat source confirmed in March

We reported to you back in March that a source confirmed with us that North Carolina Schools will close for the remainder of the year.

A month later, Governor Roy Cooper made that announcement Friday afternoon.

The governor decided to cancel the rest of the school year after extending the state’s stay-at-home order until May 8.

Students were set to go back to school on May 15 but instead will be learning from home.

Governor Cooper said he consulted with educators and parents to make the best possible decision for the well-being of the state.
