Georgia mother dies of broken heart after son’s murder
A Georgia family is mourning an unthinkable loss after a mother tragically passed away just days following the death of her 20-year-old son. Loved ones are attributing her sudden passing to the overwhelming grief she endured after losing her child under mysterious circumstances.
Tasha Lawson, 48, of Glennville, Georgia, died on April 13, 2025, a mere 11 days after the heartbreaking death of her son, and days after she did a news interview.

The young man was discovered lifeless in a bedroom of his mother’s home after being beaten, with family members believing he was the victim of a hate crime because of his sexuality.
The family alleges that Tee’Andrick Lawson was killed by intruders while staying at Tasha’s residence. Though official reports list Tasha Lawson’s cause of death as “aortic dissection rupture, hypertensive, and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease,” relatives maintain that the grief of losing her only son played a significant role in her passing.
“The pain of losing her son was too much for her heart to bear,” reads a statement on the family’s GoFundMe page, which was launched to help cover funeral expenses and support Tasha’s surviving children. The page describes the bond between mother and son as inseparable, noting that they were “best friends who did everything together.”

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) and Hazlehurst Police Department are currently investigating Tee’Andrick Lawson’s death. However, the family has voiced concerns over the pace and transparency of the investigation, calling for justice and answers as they continue to grieve two unimaginable losses.
