Football player from Mallard Creek High School killed in car crash, 3 other students injured

A high school football player from Mallard Creek High School was killed in a serious car accident on Friday night.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Hambright Road and Everette Keith Road in Huntersville, NC.

According to WSOC-TV, all four people in the vehicle were students at Mallard Creek High School in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Huntersville Fire Department arrived on the scene to extricate the four students trapped inside the heavily damaged sedan vehicle.

First responders worked to free the four students trapped inside the vehicle. One of the students inside, Caleb Kibula, was unresponsive when first responders removed him from the overturned vehicle. Paramedics later pronounced him dead at the crash site.

Officials said the other three students suffered life-threatening injuries and are in the hospital.

The accident is still under investigation.
