A 7-year-old boy has tragically passed away after being struck by a bullet in Fayetteville, North Carolina last week.

The young child, identified as Zion Gibbs, was the victim of this senseless act, as confirmed by the Fayetteville Police Department. He bravely fought but succumbed to his injuries at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill on June 10. Reports indicate that the incident occurred in the early hours of June 7, when Zion was inside a residence on Danish Drive.

The authorities have determined that the shooting was a drive-by, with surveillance cameras in the neighborhood capturing the deafening sound of gunfire. Shockingly, over 20 shell casings were discovered strewn across the street by investigators.

As of now, no perpetrators have been apprehended, leaving the community in a state of mourning and disbelief.
