A now-deleted Facebook post and interview on The King Jives Show have sparked serious allegations against Apostle Michael Joyner, with multiple former church members accusing the South Carolina pastor of sexual misconduct, manipulation, and spiritual abuse.
A now-deleted bombshell social media post is shining the light in the Conway, South Carolina area, as Avril Guillaumes publicly accused her longtime spiritual leader, Apostle Michael Joyner, of initiating and sustaining an inappropriate sexual relationship that allegedly spanned several years.
In the Facebook post, Guillaumes claimed she was a member of Divine Deliverance Worship Center for eight years when Joyner—whom she referred to as her Bishop—allegedly used his position of spiritual authority, trust, and influence to manipulate her into a non-consensual power-imbalanced sexual relationship.
“I have a wonderful husband who loves me but I allowed my Bishop of 8 years, Apostle Michael Joyner to use his position as a spiritual leader to initiate and maintain a sexual relationship with me,” Guillaumes wrote.
She emphasized the imbalance of power, stating that Joyner held “a position of trust, influence and control which he used to manipulate and shape my behavior to satisfy his personal and sexual desires.”
According to the lengthy post, Joyner allegedly made several revealing statements to normalize the alleged affair, including comments about his marriage (“my wife doesn’t minister to me sexually”), their lack of intimacy (“we haven’t been intimate in over 20 years”), and personal struggles with sexual urges after intense preaching sessions.
Guillaumes also quoted him saying, “a person never really stops cheating, they just do it differently.”
The accuser described being forced to maintain a pristine public image at the church while privately engaging in sexual activity with the leader. She claims she was placed in situations where she had to receive public ministry from Joyner while suppressing the reality of their alleged private encounters. Guillaumes further alleges that Joyner used his leadership to enforce secrecy and even influenced how she was perceived and treated by other church members, leading to social ostracism and rejection within the congregation.
“This was not an isolated incident, a mistake, or a misunderstanding. This was intentional, deliberate, ongoing and sustained over several years,” she wrote.
Guillaumes detailed emotional, mental, psychological, and spiritual harm she says she suffered, claiming the situation damaged her sense of self, her personal identity, and her relationship with faith itself. She accused Joyner of studying “my female parts” in his church office right before Bible study and walking out to the pulpit, describing what she called a pattern of hypocrisy.
“A person can stand behind the pulpit, preach powerfully, prophesy accurately and still be living in deep intentional wrongdoing!” she wrote. “DO NOT CONFUSE GIFTING WITH RIGHTEOUSNESS.”
In the post, Guillaumes called for accountability, urging the church to stop “blindly protecting leadership” and to hold Joyner to the same standards he preaches to others. She stated that he needs to apologize to her, his church, his family, and his following, and criticized the practice of “sweeping things under the rug” to maintain a false image.
THE KING JIVES SHOW: MORE VOICES COME FORWARD
Days after the Facebook post, the allegations were taken to the “King Jives Show,” where multiple former members of Divine Deliverance Worship Center shared their experiences.
According to Averil, she made the decision to expose Bishop Joiner after years of silence and what she described as pressure to keep quiet.
“I exposed Bishop Michael Jun on Facebook three days ago,” Averil said during a live interview.
But this wasn’t just about calling him out — she admitted she was exposing herself too.
“I’mma expose your husband on Facebook. And while I expose him, I’m going to expose myself.”
Averil claims she had a sexual relationship with the married pastor, saying plainly:
“I liked him… you find somebody attractive, you sleep with them. So that’s what happened… We [expletive].”
She also alleges that after she and her husband confronted the bishop and his wife, they were urged to keep everything quiet to protect the church’s image.
“They begged us not to say nothing… it was all about protecting the church.”
One former member, Lekeeshia, alleged that both she and her daughter were sexually assaulted by Bishop Joiner.
“Me and my daughter was sexually assaulted by Michael Joiner… we have two police reports on him,” she said.
She also accused the church of failing her after years of financial contributions, even when she became homeless.
“I thought I was investing in people’s future… but when I became homeless, they did not help me… nothing.”
Another woman, identified as Sharon, described how her relationship with the pastor allegedly began with manipulation and escalated into a sexual encounter.
“He told me that when I’m up in front of the church… it turns him on.”
She said the situation progressed despite her internal conflict.
“I knew it was wrong… but I felt like he was my leader.”
Sharon went on to describe a sexual encounter at her home:
“He laid me down on the couch… and performed oral sex on me… I was still in shock.”
HUSBAND SPEAKS OUT: “I WAS READY TO PUT HIM TO SLEEP”
Averil’s husband, Charles, also spoke publicly — revealing how deeply the situation affected him.
“At first I was tight. I was ready to go to church and put him to sleep… send him to the upper room.”
Despite his anger, he chose not to act violently, saying he had too much to lose.
“I have too many people depending on me… I’m not going to throw my life away.”
He also revealed that Bishop Joiner had previously baptized him, married the couple, and provided marital counseling — making the betrayal even more personal.
“He married us… gave me advice… that’s what made me so upset.”
Charles went further, alleging that other victims have come forward privately.
“There’s so many testimonies… people are calling us… he’s done this to so many women.”
Several described what they believe was psychological and spiritual manipulation used to control members.
As of now, neither Apostle Michael Joyner nor Divine Deliverance Worship Center has issued a public response to the allegations.
