Law enforcement officials in Charlotte, North Carolina have made public the footage of a shocking incident that took place in December 2023, involving a CATS bus driver being shot in the chest while operating a city bus.
Road rage incident leads to Charlotte city bus driver being shot
The incident was the result of a road rage altercation between two motorists, during which one of them fired a shot that missed its intended target and struck the bus driver, Zavier Austin, who was traveling on Lasalle Street. Both motorists fled the scene.
In the video, the bus driver can be heard crying out for help after being hit, exclaiming, “Help me, I’ve been shot, Lord Jesus!!”
Zavier Austin was rushed to the hospital and is facing a challenging road to recovery after being struck just below the neck. His attorney, Ken Harris, described him as a resilient fighter and emphasized the need for improved protection for drivers.
As of now, no suspects have been apprehended in connection with the incident.
