Busted! Sharpsburg Police Captain Caught Texting and Driving While Transporting Defendant

When the law breaks the law, the people notice.

A Sharpsburg police captain who should know better is under internal investigation after being caught on camera texting and driving — while transporting a defendant to jail.

According to information The North Carolina Beat received,  Captain Kendrick Revis was driving at what appeared to be a steady speed (33MPH)  on Tuesday night, October 7, when he decided to send text messages behind the wheel.

A photo shows Captain Kendrick Revis behind the wheel, appearing to text on his phone while transporting a defendant.

The shocking part is that the defendant, who had been cited and taken in for an FTA (Failure to Appear), was not restrained, allowing them to clearly capture Revis’s actions on camera.

After receiving a copy of the video, Michael Thomas, the Sharpsburg Police Chief, told The North Carolina Beat that Captain Revis is now the subject of an internal investigation.

Captain Kendrick Revis of the Sharpsburg Police Department is facing an internal investigation after a viral video showed him texting and driving during a transport.

He also told us that he will “handle the matter” according to departmental policy.

However, at this time, there’s no indication that Revis will face citations or charges— despite texting and driving being a violation of North Carolina law.

Under North Carolina law, texting while driving is prohibited for all drivers.

Law enforcement officers, like the rest of us, are expected to follow those laws – although average drivers get ticketed for the same behavior every day.
