Police believe manhunt suspect is alive and on foot, still extremely dangerous

A search for Robert Lee Strothers now has more than 31 agencies helping in the investigation to locate him.

Strothers, who has been on the run from police since Thursday night, is believed to be alive and on foot, according to Lenoir County PIO Bryan Hanks.

Saturday, officials said they recovered the 2003 red Dodge Dakota truck that was allegedly stolen by Strother. Police say the vehicle was located Friday in the woodline in severe undergrowth. Officials say the vehicle was still running and in reverse but was stuck in the undergrowth.

Strothers, an extremely armed and dangerous man police say, is wanted for shooting a Lenoir County Sheriff Deputy Thursday night and then shooting a civilian and stealing his truck early Friday morning.

Sheriff Ronnie Ingram is asking the public to help them find Strothers with credible information of his whereabouts to 252-559-6118 or 911.
