A disturbing video out of Red Springs, North Carolina, is making rounds across social media after a mother was arrested for allegedly attacking her own daughter during a confrontation over a nose piercing.
According to authorities, 57-year-old Patty Cummings was taken into custody on Wednesday, May 20, after authorities reviewed a viral video that allegedly showed the violent confrontation on the porch of the home.
Cummings is now facing one count of misdemeanor child abuse and one count of misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon.
She was given a $4,000 secured bond and has since bonded out of jail.
The shocking incident reportedly started after Cummings’ daughter told her she had gotten a nose piercing. In the video, Cummings can allegedly be seen kicking the girl in the stomach during the heated confrontation.
But that was not all.
The video also allegedly shows Cummings grabbing a pair of scissors and aggressively waving them toward the victim’s body. At one point, the scissors appeared to be brought near the girl’s ear and arm – which is also stated in warrants.
As part of her release conditions, Cummings has been ordered to have no direct or indirect contact with the alleged victim.
