Greenville McDonald’s police incident
A man was arrested on Monday afternoon inside a McDonald’s located on South Memorial Drive in Greenville, North Carolina, after a call about the man trespassing, leading to an altercation with law enforcement. The arrest was captured by a Facebook user named “Daonly Hbke”, and has since gone viral on social media.
The individual involved in the incident has been identified as Anthony Drayton. According to police warrants obtained by The North Carolina Beat, after the incident, Drayton was arrested and charged with assaulting an officer, as well as resisting, delaying, or obstructing an arrest.

In the viral video, one officer can be seen holding a baton in one hand while using the other hand to try and gain control of Drayton, who had placed his hands on his head in compliance. The situation escalates further as a second officer arrives on the scene and is seen hitting Drayton repeatedly in the head with a pair of handcuffs, while trying to take him into custody.

As the confrontation continued, two more officers arrived, and the one with the cuffs was seen with her hands around Drayton’s neck. The video, which has sparked widespread outrage on social media, only captures part of the altercation and does not show what led to the officers’ use of force, according to police.
Greenville police says that Drayton allegedly assaulted an officer by attempting to kick him in the groin, as well as repeatedly kicking the first responding officer. Despite the tense situation, law enforcement confirms that no injuries occurred during the incident.
Greenville McDonald’s police incident has launched an internal investigation to review the officers’ actions during the arrest, although, as of now, no officers have been disciplined.
