A 22-year-old New York woman is dead after she was killed in a hit-and-run by a co-worker.
On Thursday night, police in Upstate NY said 22-year-old Madison Faltisco and a co-worker, 23-year-old Joshua Schiano, went drinking together. Afterward, Joshua wanted Madison to ride with him, but she refused because Joshua was intoxicated.
Authorities said just before 11 pm, Madison was walking along Route 51 in Clay when Joshua struck her with his car. Joshua kept driving until less than a mile when he got into another accident. Authorities said he crashed into a store sign outside a Salvation Army thrift store.
Joshua’s car caught on fire at the second crash and had to be rescued. Immediately upon arrival, officers suspected Joshua of drinking and driving. He was taken to the hospital under police custody. The results of his blood alcohol have not come back yet.
Before Madison was hit, authorities said she called a friend who said she received three phone calls from Madison but didn’t answer. The friend told police she was invited to join Joshua and Madison for drinks but declined. However, according to authorities, she offered to give them a ride for that night.
Joshua was charged with second-degree manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter, leaving the scene of a fatal accident, plus more charges, according to Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office.
