Robert Lee Strother, the 30-year-old man accused of shooting a Sherriff’s Deputy Thursday night and a civilian Friday morning, has been arrested.

According to Lenoir County PIO, Bryan Hanks, police received a 911 call at 8:19 p.m. about a man who fit Strother’s description sitting on the porch of a residence on Banks School Road.

Hanks said Lenoir County Sheriff Ronnie Ingram called for two armored vehicles to go to the address. When the armored vehicles approached Strother at the address, he was instructed to surrender but refused. Hanks said a gunfight between Strother and police ensued.

Strother was hit by gunfire on multiple parts of his body. Hanks says no officers were injured, and Strother was transported to a local hospital.

N.C. State Bureau of Investigations is now investigating the shooting.
