Moses Arnold charged in deadly Winston-Salem hit-and-run incident

A woman has been arrested and charged with felony murder following a shocking hit-and-run incident that authorities say was no accident.

According to the Winston-Salem Police Department, 37-year-old Moses Arnold was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon, a day after allegedly intentionally striking and killing another woman with her vehicle.

The deadly encounter occurred around 1:14 p.m. on Monday, June 2, 2025, when officers responded to a call about a hit-and-run on Burgandy Street. Upon arrival, officers found 53-year-old Tammy Denise Long lying in the roadway with serious injuries consistent with being hit by a vehicle.

Long was rushed to a local hospital but later died from her injuries.

In a press release, investigators stated they believe Arnold deliberately hit Long and fled the scene. The two women were reported to be acquaintances, though the motive behind the act has not been released.

Arnold is currently charged with felony murder and is being held pending further court proceedings.
