Lamar Willis 41, a former teacher at MacArthur University Academy K-8 is charged with sexual assault on at least 5 students he taught.
Authorities in Michigan say they have charged a music teacher with sexually assaulting students he taught. The 41-year-old music teacher is facing four charges of second-degree criminal sexual conduct and three charges of accosting a minorfor immoral purposes. Last month, he was given a $15,000 unsecured bond, which means he only had to sign a piece of paper to be released.
One of the parents, outraged over the bond Lamar Willis received, told WXYZ that Willis “ran his hand down her daughter’s back, touched her bra clasp, and she felt very uncomfortable.” Willis worked for Southfield Public Schools for years, but he resigned over the summer after being accused of predatory behavior. The investigation into his alleged misconduct was intensifying at the time of his resignation.
Willis accused of making girls sit in his lap
According to WXYZ, students informed investigators at the Lathrup Police Department that Willis would make girls sit on his lap nearly every day. The outlet reported that the students told investigators that Willis would force some students into participating in sexual activity with each other, instructing them to leave his classroom if they didn’t “go far enough.”
One parent, named Felicia, said that Willis was telling the students how to have sex and how to show different types of pleasure. She also mentioned that an incident involving her son and Willis led to the police investigation.
“He went off. He went to grab him. My son deflected him and it became like this big old altercation. My son immediately grabbed his things and left the classroom to go get the principal and assistant principal,” Felicia
The investigation is ongoing.
