An 18-year-old, Ramon Miller, was killed in a single-vehicle car crash after he was ejected from a Dodge Challenger he stole from an Instacart driver at a Publix in Charlotte, North Carolina.
On Sunday, January 14, 2024, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department rushed to South Tryon Street near Steele Creek Road, just adjacent from a Publix, after receiving a distressing report of a 2020 Dodge Challenger being snatched. The victim recounted a harrowing encounter with 18-year-old Ramon Miller, who allegedly brandished a firearm and demanded her car keys.
In a chilling 911 call, captured by WSCO-TV 9, the owner recounted, “They were literally lurking in my back seat and grabbed me from behind. They had a gun and demanded my keys, so I handed them over,” she recounted.
Shortly thereafter, law enforcement spotted the stolen vehicle and attempted to pull it over, but Miller defiantly refused to comply, sparking a high-speed pursuit. As reported by the Charlotte Observer, the chase came to a dramatic end when Miller lost control of the car while trying to exit I-77 onto Tyvola Road, causing it to flip multiple times and ejecting him from the vehicle.
Tragically, Miller met his demise at the crash site.
In 2024, it seems that karma is serving up swift justice.
