Missing Charlotte Teen Juliana Nzita Found Dead Hanging From Tree On House of Prayer Property

Juliana Nzita death: 16-year-old Charlotte teen found hanging from tree on United House of Prayer property

A 16-year-old Charlotte girl, Juliana Nzita who had been reported missing was later found dead on property tied to The House of Prayer.

The North Carolina Beat has learned that a 16-year-old girl who had reportedly been missing was found dead hanging from a tree on church property earlier this month.

The teenager, identified as Juliana Nzita, was originally from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and had been living in North Carolina before her tragic death.

Over the weekend, The North Carolina Beat received a tip regarding Nzita after reports surfaced that her family had been searching for her after she was reported missing on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.

During our investigation, The North Carolina Beat spoke directly with Kenneth Tolbert, also known in the community as “Mufasa,” who says he was the person who made the disturbing discovery.

Tolbert told The North Carolina Beat that he volunteers with Brothers Helping Brothers and regularly spends time helping people throughout the community alongside his service dog, Cosmo.

According to Tolbert, on Friday, May 8, 2026, he was in the area of 4100 West Sugar Creek Road near the grounds of The United House of Prayer for All People when something caught his attention.

Tolbert said he discovered what appeared to be the body of a deceased teenage girl hanging from a tree on the property.

“I alerted nearby church members first, then police, and later continued on because I was on my way to the courthouse and under a filing deadline,” Tolbert told The North Carolina Beat.

The North Carolina Beat was also provided disturbing video footage captured by Tolbert moments after he alerted members of the church about what he and his dog discovered.

According to the video, one church member can reportedly be heard saying they had been in the same area the day before and “didn’t see anything.”

The footage also reportedly shows a small blue chair underneath the tree and a rope tied high above while Nzita’s feet appeared to still be touching the ground.

In a police report obtained by The North Carolina Beat from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Juliana Nzita’s death was officially ruled a suicide.

According to the report notes:

“On 05/08/2026 at 12:40 p.m., the listed victim was pronounced deceased at this location. This occurred in the 4200 block of West Sugar Creek Road.”

The North Carolina Beat attempted to reach out to Nzita’s family for comment but has not received a response. We also contacted the church but did not hear back.

  1. Ain’t noway that beautiful babygirl done kills herself like that. That ain’t no thang. Where she gone get a chair and rope out in the woods? Whypepo did this.

  2. Incredibly suspicious. Where was she for 10 days? Where did she or someone else get the chair and the rope? How did she reach to get the rope where it was? Was the rope, the chair, the scene, and her entire body processed for forensic evidence as a potential homicide? Until all of those questions are answered this is incredibly suspicious for an abduction and staged suicide. So so sad and heartbreaking. She and her family deserve justice. I pray the forensic evidence was gathered and hasn’t been destroyed at this point.

  3. This is way too damn suspicious to be ruled as a suicide case and I don’t believe it, especially with the set up. This poor girl has definitely been lynched or killed, who knows, possibly out of spite is my guess, and to me her body seems purposely positioned to make it look like a case of suicide. This needs another through investigation, because I don’t believe she took her own life.

So where are the videos of the actual incident?? If they have video of a man and dog finding her body, there MUST be video with time stamps of this young child being there, harming herself, using a chair…if there is none THAT’S SUSPICIOUS

    1. Trudy Jackson

And how did this young girl get the rope up that high and tie it well enough to hang herself??

    2. the article said Tolbert captured the video after he found her, so most likely he did it on his phone! Please read more closely – not suspicious

If she supposedly jumped from that chair to hang herself and yet she was found with her feet on the ground…then she wouldnt have even died from the attempt to hang. Literally doesn’t make sense

And if they don’t investigate further, then that area is corrupt as a mf and possibly super racist too. RIP Juliana🙏🏼. I really hope they find and ruin the life of her murderer.

Something is wrong with this pic. Bc if her feet is still touching the ground how did she hang herself? Why would she do that from missing for days? This need to be investigated and an autopsy done!! MY OPINION!!

Hangings gone wrong are suffocation. She (or someone using her phone) looked up knots and hanging. The drop snaps your neck if you “do it right”.

    2. You realize that her feet touching the ground is irrelevant, right? People can hang themselves sitting or kneeling on the ground, you don’t have to be suspended in the air, just have enough pressure on the trachea.

  7. It’s a homicide, why don’t they dust the chair for finger prints? If she was going to kill herself, why bring a chair and why now when she was missing since April 28?

The “facts” are too text book perfect. Seems staged. Does anyone in the community care enough to find the truth. Why hasn’t the public heard from the parents? Is the picture of this young lady in front of the same church?

Too many questions for a simple case of suicide.

  9. she did not kill herself they killed her why are they all acting so calm about this and why was en’t the dog barking or anything and why did he just know to record and then happend to find her body? somethings fishy she’s dead and her body is still on the ground? bicth pls i dont believe this they did something to her.

You can’t hang yourself if your feet are touching the ground. If she was pronounced dead at the scene, she was dead when positioned there. This was not suicide, this poor baby was killed. RIP Babygirl.

    1. I had a friend who died by hanging and they were on their knees. If you want to die, the rope around your neck is the only part needed to asphyxiate yourself. Lean forward, lift your legs, whatever the case may be.

      I TOTALLY AGREE !
Get your town’s people involved in this. Peaceful protest with signs asking.. WHAT HAPPENED HERE. Ask for any information to be turned in through CRIAM STOPPERS ! Don’t leave it just in your town..
I’m way down here in Ocala, fl area. But will help anyway i can to get you all support for answers .

  11. This appears to be a message of some sort. I honestly don’t believe that this young lady committed suicide. Just my opinion.

  12. I recall when this young lady went missing. I also recall when the person that posted the initial cry for assistance in finding her, stated she had been found but was deceased. No additional information was provided at that time due to privacy for the family. To now learn that she was found in this weay is heartbreaking. This is beyond suspicious and I agree that additional investigation should be conducted. I pray that the family receives the support they need and are pursuing the avenues they feel are best for them to bring closure.

      I agree.
DONT stop keeping this young girls face in the public.. FIND answers,
Join groups of missing person’s & tell them what happened as you know it so far..
Good luck & may God be behind you giving you strength to do this..
I’ve been involved in a case here for 3 years.. it’s a mess. But we will get justice for our.

  13. Hmmm their reaction was way to calm for me even the dog didn’t bark. Something is up. IF she did it at the church then there is a reason behind it. So investigate the ppl that discovered it and the church cuz something is up.

    1. i agree. They all, including the dog, seem way too detached and unaffected by the sight of a dead child.

  14. Shameka Hunter

This seems fishy to me. They need to investigate the person that made the discovery. U found a body hanging from a tree, alerted other’s & continued on to court!?

  15. I didn’t believe she did that to herself, someone else put that chair there, so people can think she done that to herself. Very sad

This should have been national news. I found out from a colleague at work. Are there any updates from May 8th? RIP BABYGIRL
