9-month-old baby dies with Fentanyl in her system
A grandmother from Virginia and the aunt of a 9-month-old baby girl are in jail on murder charges after investigators discovered that the toddler died with Fentanyl in her system.

Whether fentanyl caused the little girl’s death remains unknown, as the autopsy results have not yet been released.
911 operators receive call about a 9-month-old girl not breathing
According to Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Major. Troy Skebo said they received a 911 call about a baby girl who was not breathing. Upon arrival, emergency personnel began life-saving measures before rushing the child to a local hospital in critical condition. The child was then airlifted to Virginia Commonwealth University Children’s Hospital in Richmond, where she died on Sunday.
When investigators obtained a warrant for the home, they seized multiple narcotics.
Investigators learned during their preliminary investigations that the child’s mother had dropped her three children off at the grandma’s house on December 1. A 2-year-old, a close relative, was also at the home. The remaining three children were tested, and the 2 year old came back positive for cocaine.
Ilona C. Foster, the 49-year-old grandmother, and 35-year-old Stephanie S. Diomande, the baby’s aunt faces multiple charges
Police said they took the child’s 49-year-old grandmother, Ilona C. Foster, and the child aunt, 35-year-old Stephanie S. Diomande into custody.
The grandmother and aunt are charged with felony murder, four counts of child abuse, four counts of child endangerment, possession of drugs with the intent to distribute, and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
They are in the Rappahannock Regional Jail with a preliminary hearing scheduled for February 29, 2024.
