71-Year-Old Winston-Salem Man, Franklin Gray Whitaker Arrested on Multiple Felony Child Rape Charges from 1995 Cold Case.
Franklin Gray Whitaker, a 71-year-old from Winston-Salem, was charged with multiple felony charges after authorities say he sexually assaulted a juvenile under the age of 13 back in 1995. The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office arrested him earlier this month.
According to warrants and officials, Whitaker is accused of statutorily raping and sexually assaulting a child in a case that sat cold for over 30 years. On May 1, detectives arrested the suspect and hit him with:
- Five counts of felony first-degree sex offense of a child
- Two counts of felony first-degree rape of a child
- Two counts of felony statutory rape/sex offense
- One count of felony indecent liberties with a child
Whitaker was booked into the Davidson County Detention Center with no bond.
