A family of a Charlotte man inside Burger King confronting his ex-girlfriend like a wild animal has been awarded $1.5 million in a lawsuit against the city of Charlotte.

In March 2019, 27-year-old Danquirs Franklin entered Burger King on Beatties Ford Road and confronted his ex-girlfriend. Surveillance video show Franklin getting physical inside the restaurant. When CMPD arrived minutes later, and immediately confronted Franklin at gunpoint.

Franklin was kneeling down on the passenger side of a vehicle when officers told him to drop his weapon. After several commands, it appears that Franklin was starting to cooperate, but officers didn’t feel that way and shot him. Before Franklin takes his last breath, he can be heard saying, “You told me to put it..,” and then he freezes up.
