Families First Coronavirus Response Act becomes law

Today, April 1, 2020, The Families First Coronavirus Response Act will become law.

The new law will provide paid sick leave and expanded family and medical leave for employees at businesses who employ fewer than 500 people.

The law was passed by Congress and signed into law by President Trump. The act includes the “Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act and the Emergency Family and Medical Leave Expansion Act.”

Paid leave provisions are effective as of April 1 and apply to leave taken between April 1 and Dec. 31 of this year, according to the US Department of Labor.
