Fulton County, GA DA Fani Willis is embroiled in a scandal after being caught in a secret relationship with an attorney she hired as a special prosecutor to handle the case against former President Donald Trump for election interference.
The district attorney of Fulton County, Georgia, Fanni Willis, has been embroiled in controversy surrounding her alleged affair with a special prosecutor appointed to prosecute former President Donald Trump. The judge overseeing the special prosecutor’s divorce proceedings has allowed for the unsealing of documents that may shed light on the nature of the relationship between the prosecutor, Nathan Wade, and Willis. These documents reportedly include credit card charges for trips taken by Wade and Willis to Miami and California.
The revelation of this secret relationship was brought to light by a defendant, Michael Roman, who raised concerns about potential conflicts of interest and misuse of public funds. Roman cited Wade’s divorce from his wife, Joycelyn Wade, of over 20 years as evidence of the alleged affair. Notably, Wade filed for divorce the day after Willis appointed him as the special prosecutor against President Trump and immediately sought to have the documents sealed.
During an emergency hearing, the judge ruled that the documents related to Wade’s divorce should be made public and also considered arguments regarding the potential removal of Willis from office. Attorneys for Wade’s ex-wife accused Willis of obstructing access to crucial information and suggested that she was aware of the reasons behind the separation between Wade and his wife.
Furthermore, there have been discussions about whether Willis should be deposed, with her attorney arguing that the alleged adultery is not relevant to the case, while opposing counsel insisted on questioning Willis about her alleged relationship with Wade. Willis has filed an emergency motion to halt a subpoena for her testimony in Wade’s divorce case, and concerns have been raised about the potential misuse of county funds, as bank records reportedly show that Wade used his own credit card to book tickets for himself and Willis during the prosecution of Trump’s election interference case.
The judge has yet to make a decision on whether Willis will be required to sit for a deposition, pending the presentation of evidence by Wade.Â
In 2020, Fani Willis issued a warning that she would terminate any employee who engages in relationships with co-workers and declared that she would not date “anybody that works under me” but look how that turned out.
