A so-called caregiver, Cindy Gale Rice, betrayed the very people she was entrusted to protect. Rice, who worked in the memory care unit at Mocksville Senior Living—has been arrested for taking inappropriate photos of patients and sharing them with her boyfriend.
The two were busted on December 13, 2024, when deputies responded to an alleged assault between Rice and her boyfriend, 40-year-old Ronni Mccoy. As they followed up on the domestic dispute, staff members at the facility came forward with a video that Rice had sent in a group chat—that was very disturbing.
The footage showed Rice inappropriately touching a patient’s breast, and when authorities seized her phone, they found more photos of fully and partially nude female patients, some in the shower, others using the restroom. Even more disturbing, Rice had been sharing these images with Mccoy, who, according to investigators, had been directing her on what type of photographs he wanted.
This wasn’t just a twisted game between two disgusting a*s individuals—this was calculated exploitation of the elderly, orchestrated by a caregiver who was supposed to be their protector.
Sheriff JD Hartman condemned the crime:
“Some of the patients in the memory unit can’t communicate or even understand what is going on. They are the most vulnerable population, and that’s what makes this so incredibly sad.”
As authorities dug deeper, it got worse. A total of nine victims were identified, leading to additional charges against Rice, including:
- Second-degree forcible sexual offense
- Seven counts of misdemeanor secret peeping
- Six counts of felony secret peeping
- Three additional counts of second-degree forcible sexual offense
Mccoy, the alleged mastermind behind the disgusting operation, was slapped with eight counts of accessory before the fact for his role in directing Rice’s crimes. Both Rice and Mccoy have been denied bond and remain locked up in the Davie County Detention Center, where they belong.
