Charlotte man arrested for crimes against nature
A 22-year-old Charlotte man, Ishon Shamel Rankins, was arrested earlier this month on disturbing allegations involving crimes against nature with a canine, according to court documents obtained by The North Carolina News.
The arrest stems from a report filed by Rankins’ ex-partner, Joseph Espinosa, who told investigators that he had a phone recording of Rankins allegedly engaging in a sexual act with his dog. The alleged incident reportedly took place on February 25, the same day authorities issued warrants for Rankins’ arrest.
Rankins was booked into custody on March 12 and released the following day after posting a $2,500 bond.

Following his arrest, a mugshot of Rankins has gone viral on social media. In one such comment, Rankins denied the allegations, stating:
“Y’all know damn well I ain’t did sht with no animal. Just somebody out to ruin my damn reputation.”
However, according to court filings, law enforcement officials have obtained video evidence supporting the claims made by Espinosa.
