Greensboro Pastor Leroy Deon Clark Arrested Following Alleged Domestic Dispute With Girlfriend

They say what happens in the dark eventually comes to the light, and according to newly filed criminal warrants, a well-known Greensboro-area pastor may have some serious explaining to do—not just to his congregation, but possibly to his wife as well.

Pastor Leroy Deon Clark, 46, of McLeansville, North Carolina, was arrested Sunday after being charged by the Burlington Police Department with misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, false imprisonment, and assault on a female following an alleged incident involving a woman identified in court documents as his girlfriend.

Clark is not just any man. He is the longtime pastor of Equation Church located on Broad Avenue and the husband of First Lady Jennifer J. Clark, whom he has been married to for nearly 21 years. The couple is reportedly set to celebrate their 21st wedding anniversary this November.

But according to the warrants, another woman, Aprille McPhaul, allegedly found herself at the center of a domestic dispute that has now landed the pastor in criminal court.

WARRANTS IDENTIFY WOMAN AS PASTOR’S “GIRLFRIEND”

Court records obtained by The NC Beat show that the alleged incident occurred on Saturday, June 13, 2026. Warrants were issued the following day, and Clark was arrested on Sunday, June 14.

Judge Meredith T. Edwards later released him on a $500 unsecured bond.

The domestic violence warrant alleges Clark “used physical force” against McPhaul, who is specifically identified in the charging documents as his girlfriend.

According to the warrant, Clark allegedly grabbed McPhaul by her forearms and pulled her toward his body in a manner that prevented her from moving. The warrant further notes that the two were in a current dating relationship at the time of the alleged incident.

The allegations didn’t stop there.

Clark was also charged with false imprisonment.

According to court records, investigators allege Clark intentionally and unlawfully restrained McPhaul without her consent.

The third charge accuses Clark of assaulting McPhaul by allegedly grabbing her in a manner that prevented her from moving and continuing to grab her after she repeatedly told him to stop.

The warrant states that Clark allegedly continued the physical contact despite being instructed to cease.

Following his arrest, Judge Meredith T. Edwards imposed conditions of release that prohibit Clark from assaulting, threatening, harassing, beating, molesting, or otherwise harming McPhaul.

The order specifically directs him to have no acts of violence or intimidation toward the alleged victim while the case remains pending.

At this time, it remains unknown how long Clark and McPhaul allegedly maintained a relationship, what led to the reported altercation, or whether Clark’s wife was aware of the alleged relationship.

The NC Beat has now obtained exclusive video that allegedly captures Pastor Leroy Deon Clark outside of Drake’s in Burlington. In the video, a man believed to be Clark can be seen engaged in what appears to be a physical struggle with a woman outside the establishment.

Sources familiar with the situation have identified the woman as McPhaul, the same woman named in the criminal warrants as Clark’s girlfriend.

The video becomes even more intriguing.

According to sources, the person recording the encounter was allegedly another woman Clark had reportedly arranged to meet that evening at the same spot. The NC Beat has not independently confirmed those claims, and no court documents currently reference the alleged involvement of a second woman.

In the video, McPhaul can be heard telling restaurant employees that they were not “fighting” and that Clark simply did not want her to leave. She can also be heard asking the woman recording the incident to stop filming.

No public statements have been released by Equation Church, Pastor Clark, First Lady Jennifer Clark, or McPhaul regarding the allegations.
