Cumberland County Toddler Killed Toy Car Crash
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.– A devastating crash in Cumberland County has claimed the life of a 2-year-old toddler after a car veered across the center line and plowed straight into two small children riding in a toy car being pulled by their parents.

The horrific incident happened just before noon on Thursday, in the 4000 block of Mena Drive inside the Gray’s Creek Mobile Home Community.
According to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the two little ones – a 2-year-old and a 5-year-old – were enjoying a ride in an electric toy car when an 18-year-old driver lost control and slammed into them. The 2-year-old was airlifted to a hospital but later died from the injuries. The 5-year-old was also seriously hurt and airlifted for treatment.
The driver, identified as Abinijah Lavon Lewis of Fayetteville, was behind the wheel of a white Dodge Avenger. He stayed at the scene and was taken to a medical facility for treatment.
Charges are pending as the investigation continues.
