Horse hit by car in Uptown Charlotte after running loose in busy intersection

A horse hit by car in Uptown Charlotte led to arrest of  two brothers.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Two men arrested after a horse was seen running loose through Uptown Charlotte and getting hit by a car have now been identified as twin brothers, according to newly released court documents.

Authorities say Desmon Moore and Deven Moore, both 27, were taken into custody following the chaotic incident that happened last weekend near 7th Street and College Street.

The bizarre moment gained attention after witness video showed a horse galloping through the middle of Uptown traffic before being struck by a passing car. The impact sent the animal airborne. Before that happened, footage appeared to show one of the brothers performing on top of a horse before losing control and falling. The horse then broke free and ran into the street while both men chased after it.

Even though the video showed a violent hit, later footage appeared to show the horse back on its feet and walking around. Officials have not publicly shared detailed information about the animal’s condition.

Court affidavits say the scene became even more disorderly once officers arrived.

Police said officers were trying to detain Deven Moore, who was allegedly attempting to fight someone, when Desmon Moore stepped in and tried to pull his brother away from law enforcement.

Investigators allege Desmon resisted officers, pulled away during the arrest, shouted profanities, and refused multiple requests to identify himself. Police also claim he physically resisted while officers were trying to search him.

Both brothers were charged with disorderly conduct as well as resisting, delaying, and obstructing a police officer, according to court documents.
