Ciara Frederick is facing a murder charge after Buncombe County deputies say 10-month-old Enoch Chappell was found stabbed multiple times at a home in Barnardsville and later died at Mission Hospital.
BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities say a North Carolina mother is now sitting behind bars after being accused of brutally stabbing her own baby multiple times.
According to the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies rushed out to a home on Rocala Drive in Barnardsville just after 2 p.m. Thursday, following reports of an assault. When first responders pulled up — including Buncombe EMS and the Barnardsville Fire Department — they were met with a nightmare.
Inside the home, 10-month-old baby Enoch Chappell was found suffering from multiple stab wounds.
The infant was rushed to Mission Hospital in a desperate attempt to save his life… but sadly, he did not survive.
Law enforcement says the child’s mother, Ciara Frederick, was taken into custody at the scene and is now facing first-degree murder along with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

Officials haven’t released details about what may have led up to the alleged attack.
As of now, the investigation remains ongoing.
