Mount Airy, NC — A heavy police presence flooded a rural area of Mount Airy Thursday afternoon around 2 p.m. after a shooting was reported near Welcome Baptist Church Road.
According to the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, four people were shot and at least two people are dead. The scene remains active and police are asking people to avoid the area.
