The crash occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, when a vehicle traveling along Tuckaseegee Road near Little Rock Road lost control, launched into the air, and crashed directly into a power pole.
Video from a nearby home captures the terrifying moment sparks fly and a transformer appears to explode, knocking out power to the surrounding neighborhood. Debris from the vehicle was scattered across the roadway, with only pieces of the car remaining at the scene.
But what happened next has left a family shaken.
Missing Driver Seen Running From Crash Scene
Approximately one minute after the crash, the same surveillance footage appears to show 23-year-old Jeffrey “Jeff” Brown emerging from a wooded area near the wreck in the bottom right corner of the video — then running away from the scene.
According to family members, no one has seen him. On Tuesday, his mother, Cynthia Brown, posted on Facebook that she had spoken with Jeff.
“Even though I talked with him, we still don’t know his whereabouts. So please keep a lookout, and if you see him, please reach out.”

On Monday night, a search party was organized, with family members and neighbors combing through nearby woods and knocking on doors hoping someone may have seen Jeff.
Loved Ones Say Jeff May Not Have Been Thinking Clearly
Brown’s stepfather, Rich Mason, urged anyone who may know who Jeff has been associating with recently to come forward.
“No judgment or anything like that,” Mason said. “We just want to find Jeffrey.”
The family also revealed that Brown had recently experienced episodes of paranoia, raising concerns that he may not have been in a clear state of mind at the time of the crash.
Police Investigation Underway
Brown’s mother has since filed a missing person report with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. As of publication, police have not released additional information regarding Brown’s whereabouts or the cause of the crash.
