Cumberland County deputies have arrested 18-year-old Jonathan Hatchell in connection with the murder of 50-year-old Johnny Fisher of Hope Mills, North Carolina.
According to authorities, the incident happened early Thursday morning when deputies responded to a well-being check at 5646 Medicus Lane around 12:45 a.m. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered Fisher dead at the scene.
Details regarding the nature of the relationship, if any, between Hatchell and Fisher remain unclear. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the incident was an act of random violence or if there were prior connections between the two individuals.
Hatchell has been charged with murder and is currently being held without bond at the Cumberland County Detention Center.
The investigation is ongoing, and officials have yet to release further information regarding the circumstances of the crime.
