A 22-year-old Greenville woman was trying her luck but too bad she is now facing serious trouble after allegedly embezzling more than $25,000 worth of lottery tickets from her place of employment.

According to the Greenville Police Department, Yagbe Caranda was arrested on Sunday, May 18, 2025, and charged with larceny by an employee. Investigators allege that while working at Pirates Pittstop, Caranda unlawfully took $25,021 worth of North Carolina Education Lottery tickets. The alleged incident occurred on April 27, 2025.

Caranda was booked into the Pitt County Detention Center and held under a $10,000 secured bond. She was released after posting bail and appeared in court on Monday, May 19.
