Shakara Sinclair, a Charlotte resident, has been charged with First-Degree Murder following a fatal altercation on January 21, 2025, on Leake Street. According to investigators, Sinclair allegedly shot and killed Jadarrian Boyd after a dispute escalated when Boyd reportedly pushed Sinclair’s mother during an argument.
Police said they responded to a Leak Street address in reference to a domestic violence call. Officers responding to the scene discovered Boyd deceased inside the home. Court documents obtained by The North Carolina Beat reveal that the conflict began with an argument between Sinclair and Boyd inside the home. Sinclair’s mother told investigators she asked Boyd to leave, but he later returned, banging on the door.

When Sinclair’s mother opened the door, another heated argument erupted between Sinclair and Boyd. According to court records, the confrontation turned physical, and Sinclair’s mother tried to intervene. She claimed Boyd assaulted her during the scuffle, which led Sinclair to retrieve a firearm and fire two shots, hitting Boyd.
She told investigators that after she heard the shots, she saw her daughter holding the gun.
Sinclair told investigators she initially believed she missed Boyd with the first shot but fired again, striking him. Boyd reportedly walked down a hallway and collapsed as Sinclair was on the phone with 911.
She remains in custody at the Mecklenburg County Jail without bond.
