A woman associated with Cone Health Alamance Regional is currently out of jail on a written promise to appear after she allegedly fled the scene in a Burlington hit-and-run that resulted in the death of another woman.

The alleged culprit, a 51-year-old named Irma Garcia Hernandez from Burlington, faces charges including driving without a license, felony hit-and-run causing death, and speeding beyond safe limits.

At approximately 4:08 a.m. on Tuesday, Burlington police responded to South Church Street and Glendale Avenue following reports of a hit-and-run incident. Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered the lifeless body of 36-year-old Alicia Cearley.

According to court documents obtained by The North Carolina Beat, Hernandez was granted a $100,000 unsecured bond. She signed herself out.
