A Walmart employee, Josue David Virella Rivera was killed at the Walmart Distribution Center in Henderson, North Carolina on Wednesday, Feb. 19.
It happened around noon when Rivera was operating a mechanical tow motor to move products within the facility. Despite the quick response from emergency personnel, Rivera was pronounced dead at the scene, according to ABC 11.
The Vance County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation, working in collaboration with various agencies to determine the specific cause of the incident. Authorities are currently looking for potential witnesses, urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.

Walmart issued a statement expressing profound sorrow for the loss of Rivera. The company extended condolences to his family, pledging to fully cooperate with authorities throughout the investigation. Walmart has also vowed to review and reinforce safety procedures within its facilities.
The incident remains under investigation.
