Two individuals have been apprehended by the Durham Police Department following their alleged involvement in multiple shooting incidents in Durham over the past few months, including a recent occurrence.
In the early hours of Tuesday at approximately 1:30 a.m., law enforcement officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of Fayetteville Street in response to a report of a gunshot injury. Upon arrival, they discovered a female victim with a gunshot wound, who was subsequently transported to the hospital with injuries deemed non-life threatening.
Another shooting incident occurred in March at the intersection of Fayetteville Street and Linwood Avenue, resulting in serious injuries to two men. Following an investigation, the Durham Special Operations Division arrested 26-year-old Christopher Turner and 28-year-old Destiny Daniel last Wednesday.
During the arrest, authorities found both Daniel and Turner in possession of two handguns, one of which was reported stolen, an AR Pistol, assorted narcotics, and $3,156 in cash.
Daniel has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to cause harm, while Turner faces similar charges along with additional counts related to the March 31 shooting, including causing serious injury and unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Both Turner and Daniel are currently detained at Durham County Jail, with Turner being held without bond and Daniel’s bond set at $500,000.
Durham officials have stated that their investigation into the matter is ongoing.
